WordPress 5.0 has finally landed, are you prepared for Gutenberg?

WordPress 5.0 has finally landed, are you prepared for Gutenberg?

Dec 10, 2018

The problem with Gutenberg is that it is forced onto WordPress users. Sure, there is a classic editor plugin that you can install. However, users are reporting incompatibilities with other popular plugins such as Yoast SEO. In my opinion, Gutenberg should have a core option of being enabled or disabled. An editor plugin shouldn’t be necessary to deactivate it.

Google looks set to introduce comments on search results

Currently, it seems that a commenting feature is enabled for soccer (football) match results for popular teams. For instance, searching for Brazil national football team will display a green-themed infobox. Details such as matches, players, and news are available to view. Clicking on the matches tab takes the visitor to a list of past and upcoming matches. Results with videos, in the cases I’ve tested, have a comments section within them.

Don’t Miss Out on This Great Discount for an Amazing SEO toolset

Nov 16, 2018

In my several months of using SE Ranking, I’ve come to appreciate just how extensive its features are. On-demand keyword rank checking, website auditing, backlink monitoring and more services allow you to customize individual statistics and attributes to such a degree that more expensive SEO toolsets just can’t match! It’s the perfect solution for agencies and individual users as well as SEO guru’s who love to experiment. Why am I so fond of SE Ranking? I could go on in detail but just read my review for a complete section-by-section analysis. Since the time I wrote the review, there have...

WordPress 5.0 release gets pushed back by a week

WordPress 5.0 release gets pushed back by a week

Nov 10, 2018

WordPress 5.0 should be a significant update for one of the most popular content management systems on the planet. Instead, it feels like it’s a change that nobody asked for or wants. I think the WordPress team has missed the boat with the block-level editor Gutenberg. Perhaps if it was released a few years ago when other premium builders were gaining popularity, the excitement among developers and designers would be heightened.

PHP 5 will soon reach End-of-Life and no longer receive support patches

PHP 5 will soon reach End-of-Life and no longer receive support patches

Oct 29, 2018

PHP 7 has been out for a couple of years now. At this point, most webmasters should have made the transition from PHP 5. The performance gains alone should be reason enough for switching. However, now that version 5 is reaching the end of support, now is the time you MUST upgrade.

WordPress 5.0 beta now available ahead of November 19th release

WordPress 5.0 beta now available ahead of November 19th release

Oct 24, 2018

It’s been a long time coming. WordPress 5.0 is finally nearing release with an official release date of November 19th. Although I’m very curious how the backend will affect my productivity and performance, I can’t say I’m too excited about the Gutenberg block editor. I’ve grown so fond of WPBakery that it would take some significant advantages to pry me away from it.

Google cached pages should no longer show 404 errors

Google cached pages should no longer show 404 errors

Oct 23, 2018

Maybe this bug didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but it was a cause of great frustration for me. I regularly check cached pages for the main purpose of backlink indexation. Since I’ve been doing a lot of link building for my niche website, I would frequently check scholarship pages, comment/forum posts, guest posts etc. to confirm a page had been updated in Google’s index.

Maintaining keyword rankings during a transition to a new domain

Maintaining keyword rankings during a transition to a new domain

Oct 22, 2018

Using 301 redirects, you can easily send visitors from the old domain/page to your new domain and appropriate pages. MOZ estimates that some 90 to 99% of link power is transferred from these redirects. The whole process should be a gradual transition. A simple banner message for a few months explaining the transition will help eliminate confusion to visitors.

Fixing internal server error and other common wordpress issues

Fixing internal server error and other common wordpress issues

Oct 19, 2018

WP Beginner has put together an excellent resource for troubleshooting dozens of common WordPress issues. The most prevalent might be the internal server error that is displayed instead of an expected page. In my experience, going to permalink settings and hitting the save button generally fixes this problem. Other times, the solution can be a little more trickier to find.

Google looking to re-enter Chinese search engine market

Google looking to re-enter Chinese search engine market

Oct 18, 2018

This looks like a project right up Google’s alley. Track user queries and history, report that data to the Chinese government. So what happens if a Chinese citizen does search for “human rights”? Do they need to be fearful of getting a knock on the door the next day?
