Having another URL or domain point to your website is a great way to get more exposure. In fact, we set up precise.host to do just that. That domain points to a landing page on precision-digital-llc.com with a long URL alias. Rather than try and market this long URL, it is easier to forward precise.host to this URL. This is especially great for advertising. Radio jingles, business cards and other media can be very beneficial in driving traffic to your landing page. The shorter the link, the easier to remember.
I actually received my first email from Google notifying me of mobile-first indexing. The website is for a client of mine that I manage. Since I design all of my websites to be responsive, I’m not sure what sort of difference this might make. However, prioritizing content for mobile devices is a balancing act. Using CSS, content that appears on desktop can be shifted or omitted. Maybe you have a tagline that shows on your desktop website but want to push more important content further up the screen on mobile. With CSS, you can apply display:none; on that tagline.
I noticed this on my chrome for android browser several days ago. It makes a lot more sense now-a-days vs. the conventional next page button. Why? Because there is no need to render an entirely new page and load static assets along with the new results.
Crawl errors can range from being a small issue to a major problem. In order to become aware of any issues on a website you manage it is crucial to set up Google Webmaster Tools. It’s a free tool that helps with not just these issues but also can detect malware to a certain degree. You’ll get email alerts notifying you of any issues that have been detected. You may have double and triple-checked your website pages, but errors can occur at any time. I’ll still get emails from Webmaster Tools (Search Console), mostly warning me of index coverage issues.
It should be no mystery that optimized websites rank better than ones that perform poorly. It may not be a huge factor, but every positive ranking signal does add up. After each website I build, I test it through Google’s PageSpeed Insights (as well as other benchmarking websites). I’ve always assumed that it was Googlebot measuring the speed of a website. However, Googlebot doesn’t accurately represent the experience of an actual visitor. There is something to be said for balancing user experience and loading speed. Now that actual user data is used to gauge performance, developers don’t have to worry about catering to both Google and visitors.

Over the last several decades there have been anywhere between 400,000 to 600,000 new businesses formed each year. Most new business owners are rightfully concerned about providing their service or product to customers. Marketing and advertising may not be high on their radar, but it should be. Unless your business is in a niche market, it will be difficult to get any exposure without a concerted effort towards advertising. In today’s age, if your business doesn’t have a website, you’ll be at a huge disadvantage. There are many free and cheap solutions for having a website built. However, as the […]
When WordPress administrators are searching for a security plugin, usually Wordfence Security comes out on top. And for good reason. With over 2 million active installations across the community, it is by far the most popular security plugin. Does that mean it is the best? I think that is a matter of opinion. There is certainly no shortage of features. The support is great and regular plugin updates occur frequently. Still, I prefer a less popular but widely used plugin – All In One WP Security & Firewall. I briefly went over one of my favorite features of the plugin […]
