We couldn't be more thrilled to announce that Moz has acquired STAT Search Analytics!
It’s not hard to figure out why, right? We both share a vision around creating search solutions that will change the industry. We're both passionate about investing in our customers’ success. Together we provide a massive breadth of high-quality, actionable data and insights for marketers. Combining Moz’s SEO research tools and local search expertise with STAT’s daily localized rankings and SERP analytics, we have the most robust organic search solution in the industry.
With our powers combined…
Over the past few months, Moz’s data has gotten some serious upgrades. Notably, with the launch of our new link index in April, the data that feeds our tools is now 35x larger and 30x fresher than it was before. In August we doubled our keyword corpus and expanded our data for the UK, Canada, and Australia, positioning us to lead the market in keyword research and link building tools. Throughout 2018, we’ve made significant improvements to Moz Local’s UI with a brand-new dashboard, making sure our business listing accuracy tool is as usable as it is useful. Driving the blood, sweat, and tears behind these upgrades is a simple purpose: to provide our customers with the best SEO tools money can buy.
I’ve been impressed with MOZ’s link explorer tool since it was released last spring. Although I’m not familiar with STAT Search Analytics, one look at the testimonials of their high-profile clients leads me to believe they provide valuable and insightful data. Pinterest is one of those clients and they even go into further detail on how STAT helped grow that brand.
On the announcement post is a roughly 9-minute video of MOZ CEO Sarah Bird and former STAT Search Analytics Robb Bucci (who transitioned to VP of Research & Development). The two CEO’s gush over one another for the first 3 minutes and 37 seconds before providing an overview of expectations. Other than merging the data from both company’s into the MOZ platform it is unclear how this will be integrated into one tool.
One interesting note from Sarah comes at the end of the video. She makes the point that MOZ is far from finished making major changes. There’s certainly the possibility of more lucrative acquisitions in the future. I hope that we will see an update to our Domain Authority and Page Authority is calculated. In my research, I’ve found that Majestic’s Trust Flow and Citation Flow to be a more accurate measurement of a website’s authority status. There have been far too many cases I’ve encountered where crappy websites with little to no traffic have a high DA/PA with a very low TF/CF.
Obviously, I still value MOZ’s metrics. They are an industry leader and seemed poised to maintain relevancy and keep their elite status as other analytics and link research agencies emerge. MOZ’s new backlink checker is vastly improved over the old version. It’s one of my top 3 favorite backlink checkers. I have no doubt that whatever new search analytics tool they release in the near future will be equally as valuable.
