While checking on my keyword positions for various search terms listed in the Performance tab of Google Search Console I noticed something new. Directly above the results was a snapshot of how that particular keyword performed for clicks, impressions, and average position. Essentially the same information reported from Search Console.
Google clearly labels this information as being only visible to the webmaster. There’s even a section that links to an online help guide for improving your ranking for that keyword. Although, any seasoned SEO will realize that the tips offered are common knowledge and basic at best. Still, it’s a nice addition to an already vastly improved interface in Search Console.
This new feature isn’t necessarily ground-breaking. After all, you can just as easily get all this information directly from the performance tab. However, since no one else can see it, it makes perfect sense to have such data readily available.
I don’t always check Search Console directly. I have it linked to my SE Ranking account. This presents all the data in a cleaner manner for quick and effective research. I usually Google the top keywords I’m tracking to compare their current position with the daily position reported in SE Ranking. So this little bonus snapshot box really serves as a reminder to keep my focus on improving impressions and click-through ratio.
It looks like no matter what time-frame you select in Search Console, 28 days will always show in this snapshot box. Perhaps the best part of this new integration is the fact that it seems to work for every domain linked in Search Console. I probably have a 100 or so linked websites and will surely be doing queries without realizing they’ll return these performance results!
