Crawl errors can range from being a small issue to a major problem. In order to become aware of any issues on a website you manage it is crucial to set up Google Webmaster Tools. It’s a free tool that helps with not just these issues but also can detect malware to a certain degree. You’ll get email alerts notifying you of any issues that have been detected. You may have double and triple-checked your website pages, but errors can occur at any time. I’ll still get emails from Webmaster Tools (Search Console), mostly warning me of index coverage issues.
It should be no mystery that optimized websites rank better than ones that perform poorly. It may not be a huge factor, but every positive ranking signal does add up. After each website I build, I test it through Google’s PageSpeed Insights (as well as other benchmarking websites). I’ve always assumed that it was Googlebot measuring the speed of a website. However, Googlebot doesn’t accurately represent the experience of an actual visitor. There is something to be said for balancing user experience and loading speed. Now that actual user data is used to gauge performance, developers don’t have to worry about catering to both Google and visitors.

WordPress 4.9, “Tipton”, has finally implemented a much sought after feature, syntax highlighting. What this does is to color code certain attributes in the PHP, Javascript and CSS files. For instance, a CSS id (such as #footer), has a highlight color of dark blue. A property of #footer, like margin-left, is solid black.
